Flood Water

To those who heard the news last Friday. In the south part of the Philippines a very strong Typhoon lashed out at least two cities. One of my close friend died and many people are missing until now the casualties are rising. The huge trees that illegal loggers cut was the one who created a great damaged to the many houses.
These photos was taken by my cousin. My hometown was spared because of the city council who planned years ago to create a river, they call it diverse river. Thankfully, it saved the whole city to a flash flood. See the muddy water and looks like the current is not to be laughed off, that can kill hundreds of people. The bridge was not reached by the water and the people from the mountain can still pass. When people abuse nature the nature will get back on us, a hundred times. And many innocent people and children lives are gone. Very sad!

This is very sad. I agree with you on "When people abuse nature the nature will get back on us, a hundred times." But we will never learn.
The Philippines is such a beautiful country. I have only seen pictures because I have never been there. I am thinking and praying for the folks who have been hardest hit in the Philippines. I am glad you are safe. These pictures remind me how people are more important than things. I just wish we would stop cutting down trees and polluting our universe. Perhaps next year one person at a time could start.

I heard about it on the news. As always it comes much closer when hearing about it from someone more personally affected by it. I'm sorry for your loss of a friend by this catastrophe, and others you know who are affected by these events.
I wrote my post on weird weather before I had heard about your troubles. Yes, it is terrible; sad for your people's losses.

devastating news it was indeed :( good that your city was spared, thanks to the city council who thought of creating a "river" ahead of time in anticipation of future flooding.

thanks for the WW visit.

Merry Christmas!

it is so sad when people cut down trees just for money. Now they see the result from it. I am glad you made it OK. But it is sad that innocent people have to pay the price. Thanks for sharing.

This is so sad. We have a creek through our front yard, and when hurricanes come through our part of Virginia it can be very frightening. I have seen homes flooded and washed away, but our has never flooded. Our bank has lost at least 1 and a half feet in the last 33 years which is not good. I am thankful your town was not hurt. My thoughts go out to the family of your friend you lost and to the others who have suffered so much. genie
